QUIT MINING

John and David LYEN have ceased work on their supposed quartz ledge in the Cook Canyon. It appears they were the victims of a villainous sell. ... Since that, the LYEN boys have taken up ranches on the Columbia river some four or five miles above the Priests Rapids.

PRICE OF WHEAT

The demand in Kittitas for wheat is limited. The few sales made rule at 40 cts per bushel. TJOSSEM has several thousand bushels stored at his mill, for which he paid 40 cts. The people there take a lively interest in the building of a warehouse at Priests Rapids, and doing a large amount of hauling of lumber to further the project. The hauling is being done without fee or reward or hope of the same. The lumber is sledded out to the Hansen canyon and from there W. A. BULL carts it to the Rapids; three teams of the latter are thus engaged.
