The U. S. Federal Census has been taken every 10y ears since 1790 on years ending in the digit zero (e.g.1790 or 1950).
Census records were generated by enumerators. Some who had very bad handwriting.
California conducted a state-wide census in 1852, but it is highly damaged.
New Jersey conducted state census in 1855, 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895, 1905 and 1915.
Rhode Island conducted a state census in 1777 (Colonial census), 1777 (Military census), 1782, 1865, 1875. 1885, 1905, 1915, 1925 and 1935.
Massachusetts conducted a state census in 1855 and 1865.
The state of Minnesota conducted a state census i n the following years: 1849, 1850, 1853, 1855, 1857, 1865, 1875, 1885, 1895 and 1905.
Michigan held state census in the years of 1854, 1864, 1874, 1884 and 1904
The Michigan 1810 Territorial Census Records are missing.

We are indebted to Lee County Genealogy Society (FL) for a large majority of the "Facts" available on this page. Their list originally contained just over 490 facts. We have reduced that number for our site but will add some as we continue to build our new website.
