Constitution of Kittitas County
 
        Genealogical Society
 
We, the members of the Kittitas County Genealogical Society. establish and
affirm these Articles of Constitution to ensure and protect the object of the
Society, sustain its library, and serve the members.
 
 
                                                Article I
                                                  Name
 
Section A.
The name of the organization shall be the Kittitas County Genealogical Society.
 
                                      Article II
                                        Object
Section A.
          The object of the Society shall be to promote an interest in genealogy
          and local history.
 
                                                Article III
                                                  Purpose
 
Section A.
          “This organization is organized exclusively for the charitable
purposes within the meaning of section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal
Revenue Code.
          Notwithstanding any other provision of this constitution, the
organization shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on
(a) by an organization exempt from Federal income tax under section 501
(c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (or the corresponding
provision of any United States Internal revenue Law.)
          Upon winding up and dissolution of this organization, after paying
or adequately providing for the debts and obligations of the organization,
the remaining assets shall be distributed to a non-profit fund, foundation, or corporation which is organized and operated exclusively for charitable,
educational, religious, and or scientific purposes and which has established
its tax exempt status under section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.”
 
                                                Article IV
                                              Membership
 
Section A.
          Any individual shall be eligible for membership upon payment of
          dues.
 
                                                Article V
                                                 Officers
 Section A.
          The elected officers of this Society shall be President, President-elect,
Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Member at Large.
 
 
                                                Article VI
                                           Executive Board
Section A.
          The Elected Officers, the Immediate Past President, and the Head
Librarian shall constitute the Executive Board.
 
 
                                                Article VII
Section A.
          The Society shall hold regular meetings.
 
 
                                                Article VIII
Section A.
          The Society shall publish a quarterly newsletter.
 
 
                                                Article IX
                                               Dissolution
 
Section A.
          In case of dissolution of the Society, any remaining assets, monies,
and holdings, after all debts of the Society have been paid, shall be given to
an organization that has as one of its objectives genealogy.
 
 
                                                Article X
                                             Amendments
 
Section A.
          This Constitution may be amended at any regular meeting of the Society by a two-thirds vote of the members present, provided that the amendment has been submitted in writing and read to the members at a
previous regular meeting.
 
Article XI
                                         Parliamentary Authority
 
Section A.
          The Constitution and Bylaws shall constitute the governing rules of the Society.
Section B.
          Any matter not covered by the documents stated in Article XI, Section A, shall be controlled by the Robert’s Rules of Order, latest edition.
 
 
                                                Article XII
                                                Enactment
Section A.
          This Constitution shall be in effect upon passage pursuant to Article X, Section A, and supercedes any known or unknown Constitution or any
Amendments to any Constitution.
